Technology
Assistant
Administrative Assistant (ideal for
persons with an interest in: office duties, grant research, database
work)
- work with Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft
Excel, Microsoft Access, and Peachtree software programs
-creation/development and mailing of our bi-monthly newsletter -aid
with basic office duties: filing, faxing, receiving phone calls and
helping with mail
- organization of office areas
- renewal of old (and/or obtainment of new)
grants
- work with other possible interns-especially
advertising/publicity -act directly under our director and office
manager to learn the details of what these types of jobs usually
entail
- plus many other roles and opportunities as
they come up; each internship is tailored to the specific talents
and needs of the individual
Advertising/Publicity (ideal for persons
with an interest in: advertising, publicity, journalism, public
relations and telecommunication)
- development and implementation of low
cost/high yield advertising/publicity campaigns
- interaction with all local news sources
(paper, radio and television) -helping us maintain/develop a good
public persona -aid at our public/community events -send out memos,
to all free forms of advertisement, about the new events taking
place at the history center
- work with other possible interns-especially
administrative assistant
- act directly under our director and office
manager to learn the details of what these types of jobs usually
entail
- plus many other roles and opportunities as

and needs of the individual
Education (ideal for persons with an
interest in education)
- aid with educational tours and programs
delivered both in-house and at schools
- help students learn about Monroe County
history outside of the classroom
- create lessons plans that utilize pieces in
our collections
- development of new educational programs that
meet the state standards
- work directly with the county schools and
other educational institutions
- production of informative program mailings
for surrounding schools
- act directly under our education coordinator

Researcher (ideal for persons with an
interest in: anthropology, museum studies, folklore, library sciences
or history)
- learn the Past Perfect software program
(database tool for museums)
- complete information requests submitted by
the public
- learn how to accession pieces into our
various collections
- photography of collection pieces
- aid in the development, research for, and
setting up of new exhibits
- help preserve our collections with
basic/standard preservation methods
- act directly under the person in charge of
collections and learn the details of what this type of job usually
entails
- plus many other roles and opportunities as
they come up; each internship is tailored to the specific talents
and needs of the individual
