Do you have these qualifications?
  • Interest in history or genealogy
  • Like to help others
  • Trustworthy
  • Like to organize items
  • Not afraid to get your hands dirty
  • Like being a detective
  • Able to type or use a computer

If you have one or more of these qualifications, stop in the library and let us know when you are available. Training is provided.

These are examples of interesting projects that will benefit our patron researchers!

  • Database entry (familiarity with Access assumed or will be taught)
  • Proofreading indexes and databases
  • Copy or scan fragile documents
  • Organizing community files and entering data
  • Assisting visitors in the library
  • Answering requests for research
  • Accessioning items for the library
  • Copy or scan deed books
  • Type 3x5 cards for newspaper clipping file
  • Catalog items with the Library of Congress system

Volunteer time takes place during library hours (Tues through Sat 10-4). We prefer volunteers that are available for a three hour shift at least twice a month. Several of our volunteers are here every week.   Saturday volunteers are needed at the present time.

Library hours could be extended if we have more volunteers. Our goal is to be open the same hours as the museum. In order to meet this goal, we need at least 5 to 7 additional volunteers.
