Veterans - The Monroe
County Historical Society Museum is starting a project to record the
military experiences of Monroe County veterans in cooperation with
the Library of Congress
project to collect oral histories of war veterans. Program
coordinators have a special interest in those who served in World
Wars I & II, Korea and Vietnam, as well as Somalia, Desert Storm and
Bosnia. Interviews are not limited to combat veterans, but include
those who served in a support role. H.M. "Bud" Lynch, a Monroe
County native who served in the Army during Vietnam will conduct
interviews at the Monroe County Historical Museum. Men and women
interested in sharing their memories should call 332.2517 to set up
appointments.

Civil War Roundtable. The Roundtable normally meets the third
Tuesday of the month in the Monroe County History Center, at 6th and
Washington.

Monroe County Family Heritage Book -
This project has been cancelled, and subscribers will have their
money refunded.

Indiana's Pioneer Cemeteries
Restoration Project - The project
was begun as an effort to generate public awareness about the
neglected pioneer cemeteries of Indiana.

IGS Brock Cemetery Restoration - This links to a detailed,
on-line Powerpoint presentation, depicting this Monroe County
cemetery restoration. The file is very large and requires a
broadband connection.

Reunion -
The University High School, a now departed entity, has an
alumni web page. They are planning a big reunion October 2005 so
check their page for news.

Descendants of
Micajah Powell - Rochelle Riordan is completing a book about
them, many of whom settled in Monroe Co. She would like to share
info with anyone connected to a list of people covered in the book,
which can be viewed on the link, all of whom lived in Monroe Co.
