Greeter:
Welcome visitors from the front
desk, invite them to sign in, pass them literature, direct them to
the Museum, the Store, or the Library, answer general questions,
assist in the Museum store when necessary.

Museum Guide or
Docent: Conduct tours
for visitors, school groups and tour groups. (Perfect for those who
enjoy meeting people, fans of local history, museum and history
lovers, and lifelong learners.)

Museum Attendant: The
volunteer sits at a desk in the Museum area and answers general
questions. (Great for students who need to study and for readers,
and those who enjoy people, art, history and exhibitions.)

Genealogy
Library Assistant:
Assist visitors in the library with research on genealogy and local
history, do data entry, and help with special projects. (Great for
librarians, university students, academics, and anyone who enjoy
history and the fun of research.)

Collections
Assistant: Catalog
artifacts, perform data entry, photograph artifacts. (All
assistants are given careful training and assistance. Great for
university students interested in anthropology, history, art, and
research).

Research Assistant:
Conducts research for genealogy and local history questions. May
prepare research on upcoming exhibits. (History majors, academics,
students and anyone who enjoys research will enjoy this position.)

Education
Assistant: Help prepare
educational material for school groups and the general population,
assist in presenting programs for children, and leading tours
(Perfect for educators and anyone who loves children.)

Exhibits
Technician: Assist in
developing and building exhibits, maintaining current exhibits,
working with the Collections & Exhibitions committee

Groundskeeper:
Plant and maintain
garden beds around the museum, assist in plant selection, keep
grounds tidy. (Great for gardeners, and those who enjoy working
outdoors.)

Office
Assistant: Help answer
telephones, file, photocopy, do data entry. (Those with office
experience, business experience and retail experience may enjoy
this. Anyone who would like to be trained in particular office
skills is welcome to work in this position.)
Volunteers in the museum work
two-hour or longer shifts, depending on the position. There is no set
amount of time each week or month.
Greeters, docents, and clerical
volunteers generally work within a regular schedule. Others work on
individual or group projects with flexible times.
Each volunteer will be trained to
carry out that position.
