Volunteer/Internship FAQ’s:

Q: What positions are available?

A: There are positions to suit many personality types and interest areas. See our Volunteer Opportunities Brochure (pdf format) for more information about volunteer positions and internships.

Q: How many hours would I be required to work?

A: Depending upon the volunteer position, individuals work anywhere from 3 hours per month to 20 hours per week.

Q: Do I have to volunteer on a regular schedule?

A: Greeters and Collections Volunteers generally work within a regular schedule. Special Events and Buildings & Grounds positions are great for those who work during the week as most of the projects can be done at any time. Other positions have flexible schedules.

Q: Will I be trained for my position?

A: Yes, this is an important part of the volunteer process.

Q: Where do I park? / How do I get there?

A: Free street parking is available in 2-hour time slots and there is a metered lot (50¢/hour) directly east of the History Center. Bloomington Transit Bus Lines 1-7 and two parking garages are all within 3 blocks of the History Center. City neighborhood parking permits are available for $15 for volunteers who spend a lot of time at the History Center.
